About Us
Camill LaShon - CEO and Designer of Camills Closet, was just a little girl when she found her attraction for handcrafting and creating beautiful things.
When she was 5 years old, her mother bought her some rolls of yarn and taught her how to braid the yarn together and make “friendship bracelets”. Camill truly enjoyed seeing the variety of results in each bracelet she would create, and would take pride in color coordinating and pairing them up with her daily outfits.
She gained much joy and excitement as a result of mixing and blending different vibrant colors together, so much that she would spend hours creating shoe boxes full, of these unique little charms, and would begin to share them with other children and neighbors in her apartment complex.
Quick fast-forward to 2010, Camill had become the proud loving mother to 3 gorgeous little girls. Kamiyah, Kiara and Khloe. Each of whom she also encouraged to create beautiful, handcrafted and valuable creations as a fun pass time and hobby.
Some of those creations included handcrafted and personalized fleece blankets, that originally started as birthday gifts for the girls and members of their family, but quickly became a popular commodity that not only family members would compensate her for, but eventually friends and even complete strangers would highly demand.
By 2013, making these very special blankets had become a regular part-time job for Camill and fun hobby for her girls. She stocked up on blankets and would vend them in different places such as her children’s school events, family church, and outside of local convenient stores.
In 2014, Camill’s Aunt gifted her with a huge bag full of fabric to use for blanket making. Inside was all sorts of bright, beautiful colors and exotic, cultural designs and prints.
Not only was there some fleece in this bag, but it was also filled with different materials of fabric that actually would not work for blanket making, fabrics that Camill hadn’t used before and had no idea what to do with.
One day, while the girls were out at school, Camill was dealing with the pressures and stresses of financially providing for her precious babies as the single mother on welfare, that she currently was, when she found herself sitting in silence, with this big “Elephant in the room” sized bag of fabric, that was so huge, she just couldn’t ignore, put away, or stuff into any of the closets.
At that moment, what she describes as a divine revelation came over her, and she asked God - “What is it that you’re trying to tell me? What is it that you want me do with this fabric?” when a divine voice answered back; “Use it for jewelry making! Wrap it around your earrings, bracelets, and use it as headwraps”.
Camill excitedly did just that; creating beautiful matching sets for herself and the girls that she would share on Facebook and Instagram. It wasn’t long before she began to receive special requests from her aunts, cousins and friends.
By 2016, Camill decided to step all the way out on faith and really use her creative gift and eye for designing to her advantage by establishing “CamillsCloset” as a legit business.
By 2018, Camill no longer needed to depend on government assistance to provide for her family, as the orders were rolling in all day.
Women and Men from all over the country and even overseas, began to come to CamillsCloset not just for the timeless keepsake blankets, unique jewelry and beautiful headwraps, but eventually started petitioning Camill to make Silk lined bonnets, clothing items, and more of which she was always up for a new challenge.
The relationships between Camill and her clients quickly grew from just business relations, to beautiful sisterhoods, friendships and special bonds, which until this day is one of the most appreciated and valuable aspects for her.
The freedom that came with answering that call from God that day, allowed Camill to live life more creatively and freely, and would soon lead her back into the arms of her childhood love and now husband Isa Jordan, who has enthusiastically and consistently supported Camills vision over the past 5 years, by promoting and celebrating each milestone, and even taking part behind the scenes, sharing in the creative handiwork and labor.
Camill eventually naturally birthed 2 more beautiful daughters within her union with her husband, little Kosmic and baby girl Khaleese.
Camill is continuing to allow her divine gift of creativity to flow, as she now designs unique home decor, memorable keepsake items, clothing for Women, Men and Children, with the focus significantly based around the beauty and vibrations of her South Central LA and African roots, the importance of Self Love, Health - both Spiritual and Physical, while also shining light and awareness on the power of Visually Manifesting a life you truly desire to live.
